UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) on the 24th of September 2021 announced a revolutionary change by also allowing female candidates for NDA. It was a recognition of change for providing opportunities also to female candidates to get permanent commission in the defence forces. After the announcement of the NDA II exam 2021, 1002 girls from 8000 girls were then called for SSB interviews.
Eligibility Criteria for NDA Girls
The eligibility criteria for NDA girls include:
- Nationality
- Age Limit
- Education Qualification
- Marital Status
- Physical Health
- Nationality of Female Candidates
- An individual from India
- A Nepalese Subject
- A Bhutanese Subject
- People of Indian descent returned to India or Vietnam from Zaire, Ethiopia, East African countries Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Burma, Pakistan, Zambia, Sri Lanka, as well as Vietnam.
- Tibetan refugees arrived in India before January 1, 1962, seeking to cooperate there.
Note* Additionally, the candidates who meet any of the 5 criteria listed above and have a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India are eligible to apply for the UPSC NDA 2022 exam.
Age Limit
The next eligibility criteria for NDA girls include Age Limit and the limitations are:
- The age limit for Girls is between 16.5 to 19.5 years.
- However, as per UPSC rules reserved category applicants for the NDA and NA tests are not eligible for age relaxation.
Education Qualification
- The candidates must have completed class 12th from any recognized Board of India and are eligible for UPSC NDA Exam.
Marital Status
- Only Unmarried Candidates are allowed to give exams. Also, those who are aspiring to give the UPSC NDA 1 and 2 2022 exam must be solitary and intend to stay solitary until the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy training begins. If a candidate marries while undergoing UPSC NDA training, he would be expelled from the Academy.
- Physical Health
Height
- The required height for female candidates to join NDA should be equal to or mote than 152 cm. An allowance for growth of 02 cm will be made for candidates less than 18 yrs at the time of examination.
- For Air Force Branch the minimum height required is 163 cm.

- The BMI(Body Mass Index) of an individual should be less than 25.
- The waist-hip ratio should be less than 0.8 for females.
- Waist circumference should be less than 80 cm for females.
Medical Attributes which declare female candidates Unfit
- Primary or Secondary Amenorrhea
- Severe Menorrhea/severe dysmenorrhea
- Stress Urinary Incontinence
- Whether Congenital elongation of cervix or prolapsed which comes outside the introitus even after corrective surgery.
- Pregnancy will become a cause of rejection in NDA.
- Complex Ovarian cyst of any size.
- Simple Ovarian Cyst more than 6 cm.
- Endometriosis and also Adenomyosis.
- Submucous fibroid of any size.
- Broad ligament or cervical fibroid of any size causing pressure over the ureter.
- Single fibroid uterus more than three cm in diameter; fibroids more than two in number (each fibroid not more than fifteen mm in diameter) or fibroids causing distortion of the endometrial cavity.
- Congenital uterine anomalies except for the arcuate uterus.
- Acute or Chronic pelvic infection.
- Disorder of sexual differentiation.
