The NDA exam is to select the officials for 3 armed forces of the country, the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, and the Indian Navy. UPSC conducts NDA(National Defence Academy)exam every year twice. The students who have an eye on serving the nation dream for NDA. They only have a question how to join the NDA after the 12th?

How to Join the NDA after the 12th?
To join NDA after the 12th there are some eligibility criteria. The student has to fit themselves into the criteria to become eligible for the NDA.
NDA Educational Qualification
For Indian Army | 12th Passed from any Recognized Board or University |
For Air Force and Navy | 12th Passed with Subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Math from any Recognized Board or University. |
Age Limit for NDA
The age of the Candidate must range from 16.5 to 19 years of age.
Application Process for NDA
- You can get the Application Form on the official website of UPSC.
- Fill up the required details.
- Choose Preferred Branches.
- Verify all of your details.
- Generate your registration ID.
- Pay the Application Fee.
- Upload your Photograph and Signature.
- Take a printout of the submitted form.
What Happens After Clearing the Written Exam?
Cracking NDA Exam is not that easy, but what I tell you is it’s only the first step you’ve cleared. After clearing the written exam for NDA you have to go for an SSB interview. The Staff Selection Board(SSB) selects the officials for all the 3 armed forces of India. The selection board has set all new heights for the interviewing sessions. The main motive of the interview is to check the Personality, Intelligence, Physical, and Mental strengths of the candidate.
Now, the SSB interview for NDA carries on for 5 days. On the first day, Officer Intelligence Rating(OIR) tests and Picture Perception and Description Test(PP&DT) are held. This means the competition starts on the very first day. Those who did not qualify for the two tests are sent back on the very first day. After these initial tests, day 2 tests are conducted. Now on day 2, Thematic Apperception Test, Word Association Test, Situation Reaction Test, and Self-Description Test are conducted.
After the day 2 tests on day 3 and day 4 there are group tasks are assigned to candidates. It consists of Group Discussion, Group Military Planning Exercise, Elocution, etc. Now, comes the final day of the interviewing. On this day, a Personal Interviewing session takes place. After that, a panel of 20 officers selects candidates for various posts they deserve.

Documents Required for the SSB Interview.
After clearing the Written Exam the SSB Interview takes place. Let us throw some light on the documents required for the interviewing session. These are:
- Original Marksheet of class 12th.
- Risk Certificate (The format for the certificate is in the Call Letter).
- Call Letter of the SSB.
- Copy of the Application Form.
- 20 Passport Size Photographs(only in White Shirt).
- Original IDs such as Aadhar Card/Voter ID/Passport/Driving License. Also, take 2 photocopies along with you.
Life at National Defence Academy.
The Academic Year of NDA is divided into 2 terms. First(January to May) and Second(July to December). The Cadet undergoes six such terms. The training period goes on for 3 years.

The Indian Army Cadets has to go at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. Naval Cadets has to go at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezimala, while the Indian Air Force has to go to the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad.
Training Schedule at NDA
Cadets at NDA were first welcomed by the Joint Training Team. Firstly, the Orientation Capsule program is conducted which emphasizes the mental and physical toughness of the cadet.
The Army Cadets’ training period consists of 6 terms of 5 months each. The training includes judging distances, terrain study, indication and recognition of landmarks, trench digging, observation by day and night, stalking, camouflage and concealment, field signals, fire control orders, ambush, and patrolling, attack, and casualty evacuation, etc.
The Air Force Training takes place at AFTT(Air Force Training Team). Also, the Air Force training consist 6 terms of 5 months each.
The Naval Training is given by Naval Training Team at Watermanship Training Centre(WTC). The WTC trains cadets in yachting, rowing, kayaking, windsurfing, and water skiing in the 6th term. Cadets are asked to join clubs where they can explore and learn new things.
NDA 3 Years Training Fees

The training fees include
- Pocket Allowance= Rs. 15000/-
- Clothing and Equipment= Rs. 21831/-
- Army Group Insurance Fund= Rs. 7200/-
- Clothing Items at the Joining= Rs. 8681/-
- Incidental Expenditure= Rs. 7138/-
In this way, the total NDA 3 years Training Fees is Rs. 59850/-
